We look forward to welcoming you to our booth 1B20 where we will present works by the following artists Uta Barth (US), José León Cerrillo (MX), Ridley Howard (US) and Per B Sundberg (SWE). At the fair’s film sector, the video work “Matching Numbers” by Xavier Veilhan will be on view.

Uta Barth (b. 1958, Berlin, lives and works in Los Angeles, US)

Since the early 1990’s, Barth has made visual perception the primary content of her photographic work. Her images trace light, time and optical afterimages and they aim to ask us to become invested and conscious of our own perceptual awareness.

She was named a MacArthur Fellow in 2012 and The SCAD Museum of Art in Savannah, US recently presented an ambitious solo exhibition of works by her. Recent solo-exhibitions include venues such as The Art Institute of Chicago and Henry Art Gallery, Seattle. Later this year, she will have a solo-exhibition at Snite Museum of Art, University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana.

José León Cerrillo (born 1976, lives and works in Mexico City, Mexico)

Using language as a starting point and drawing from graphic ideologies, linguistic systems, constructivism and geometric abstraction, Cerrillo explores the possibilities of genuine abstraction through a wide range of media.

Recent exhibitions include 2015 Triennial, Surround Audience at the New Museum in NY, curated by Lauren Cornell and Ryan Trecartin.

Ridley Howard (b. 1973 Atlanta, lives and works in New York, US)

Howard’s works incorporate the vernacular of vastly different genres of painting, among them high renaissance, pop art, and abstraction. The moderately sized paintings call for intimate viewing, not just because of their scale but because Howard paints with exquisite care.

Ridley Howard’s work was recently shown in a solo-show entitled Fields and Stripes at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, US. He holds an MFA from Tufts University and has been the recipient of the Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant, and the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant.

Per B Sundberg (b. 1960 in Stockholm, lives and works in Stockholm, Sweden)

Per B Sundberg has been internationally noted for his innovative and experimental attitude towards the ceramic material and his groundbreaking work with glaze. The physical quality of the clay is underlined by colours and surfaces in his sculptural objects. Sundberg recently participated in the exhibition Otherworldyat Magasin III Stockholm Konsthall and Suecia Contemporare at Uppsala Art Museum, Uppsala, Sweden. His work is currently on view in the exhibition Like a Prayer at Magasin III Stockholm Konsthall.
