ANDRÉHN-SCHIPTJENKO at Market Art Fair, April 13 – 15, 2018

Andréhn-Schiptjenko is happy to announce their participation in Market Art Fair, taking place at Liljevalchs Konsthall in Stockholm. We look forward to welcoming you in our booth no 2, where we will show an installation by Lena Johansson.

Lena Johansson has been widely acclaimed for her small, intense oil paintings with motifs taken from lifestyle media. In her new body of work, presented at Market Art Fair for the first time, she conceptualizes her work further using the very same materials inherent in the world where she draws inspiration for her practice: fashion and life-style photography. Instead of using the traditional canvas and stretchers her paintings are now made directly on simple white T-shirts and jeans. Installed together with paintings and drawings on found material such as plywood and plexi they are independent works while simultaneously forming a holistic installation focusing on painting as medium.

Lena Johansson (b. 1975) lives and works in London, United Kingdom. She received her MFA from Malmö Art Academy. She has previously exhibited at institutions such as Vestfossen Kunstlaboratorium, Vestfossen, Norway, 2017 and Moderna Museet, Malmö, Sweden, 2016.
