Martin Jacobson at Katrineholms Konsthall : Solo-exhibition

5 April - 24 May 2025
In his paintings Martin Jacobson explores the underlying parts of the human psyche. Perceiving dreams, myths and archetypal images as a door into a shared human consciousness, Jacobson’s imagery can be read as an associative stream generating from these shared experiences. Starting from existing imagery, he searches for motives that, at the same time, are perceived as both new and old, familiar and unknown. Fiction and reality meet in his scenographic world where, just as on stage, the double nature of beauty is allowed to be both seductive and repulsive.
He has through the years developed a singular mannerism of his own, sticking to his subjects even in times were the human psyche as a subject matter and figurative painting have been considered out of date. His works range from an intimate to a monumental scale and have been exhibited at numerous solo and group exhibitions, both in Scandinavia and internationally.
