At The Setouchi Triennale 2025, Jacob Dahlgren presents the installation Colour Reading and Contexture. For the installation, Dahlgren collected unused square-shaped items such as books, tiles and wooden boxes, and combined various colors, sizes and shapes in layers to create a small town of colors and shapes. The collaborative process of collecting materials from the local people, which took several months, is also part of the artwork.
The Setouchi Triennale is a contemporary art festival held every three years on the islands of the Seto Inland Sea. Launched in 2010, it lasts 100 days and is divided into spring, summer and fall sessions. The Triennale is one of Japan’s foremost international art festivals, attracting about one million people from Japan and overseas.
