This summer, the museum’s High Hall becomes the meeting place for powerful international voices, compelling artistic experiences and stories that echo our shared present.
In a unique collaboration with art collectors Arne Austrheim and Tom Sydhagen, Sogn og Fjordane Art Museum present de:HUMANIZE, bringing together 23 artists from across the globe in an exhibition that challenges, moves, and creates space for hope.
The title plays on the word dehumanize—a term that, unfortunately, appears all too frequently in today’s news. Yet within the emphasis on HUMANIZE lies a powerful counterforce: art’s ability to remind us of what it means to be human.
Several of the artists come from societies marked by conflict, unrest, and deep divisions. Still, they create works filled with presence, beauty, resistance, and human dignity. The result is an exhibition that feels both global in scope and deeply personal.
Dev Dhunsi's Plant (2023) is on view in de:HUMANIZE.
