Space – Lost and Found
4 June - 18 September, 2022
Värmlands museum, Karlstad, Sweden

Kristina Jansson has since her breakthrough in the early 2000’s consistently returned to the question of what meaning the creation of images in a traditional and already burdened medium, such as painting, hold in our time. In this current context, where we in our everyday life, are constantly surrounded by photographic and digital images, on our phones, on screens and in the cityscape, a painting comes forth as singular and with its own unique position.

“I have always worked with painting as a sort of invocation to bring forth an image. Unlike a photograph, a painting is not locked in time and space. Instead, it holds its own transformative power of being a complete and separate world, its own place in an extended now.”
- Kristina Jansson
