Omid Delafrouz: Portraits of a Generation

Ana Ibarra, Elephant Magazine, April 15, 2012

Omid Delafrouz’s first memories are from when he was two years old and his

parents fled with him from Iran to Sweden. Being so young, he blended in well

but always noticed a difference: while the other kids and their parents took

things lightly, for Delafrouz and his family everything was a matter of life and

death and, as he explains, ‘I have always carried a sense of the tremendous

importance and mysterious nature of everything.’ This sense of awe is translated

into his work through intricate layers of composition and colour.
