Sixten Sandra Österberg

In a universe entirely of her own, Sixten Sandra Österberg generates some sort of hybrid painting with her unique palette and style.

Realistic portraits of faces and bodies float in and out through the layers of paint, pulsating between realism and abstraction. Shapes are built and subsequently dismantled, creating space for other, not always given, expressions and gestures. The combination of details and explosive outbursts creates a complex duality where expressionism and realism together constitute an enigmatic world to decipher. This world is certainly contemporary, albeit her historical influences. It is her surrounding queer and sub-cultural community that is portrayed, thus the motifs congenially correspond to Sixten Sandra Österberg’s method of painting.
