Earthly Bodies Born of Love is a group exhibition where eight international and Swedish artist ties together the industrial past of Avesta with today’s digital systems. The works span between installation and sound to computer games and moving images and shows how contemporary ways of production and everyday life shapes the world around us.
In Beyond Signals II, Theresa Traore Dahlberg works with metal taken from disused communication systems. The components come from 3G and 4G infrastructure that carried signals for mobile phones and the internet. Here, they have been dismantled, reworked and brought together in new forms. The works centers on what is left behind, and how value shifts over time. Objects once used to transmit invisible flows of information appear here beyond their original function – as sculptural forms carrying their own histories and traces of use. The metal bears marks of multiple transformations, from geological formation and extraction to technological application. In their new forms, the materials persist, still shaped by what they once were.
