Andréhn-Schiptjenko at Art Brussels 2024: Art Fair
Andréhn-Schiptjenko is delighted to announce its first participation in Art Brussels with an ambitious proposal that aims to showcase the diversity of the gallery’s programming.
Based in Stockholm since its inception in 1991, the gallery opened a second space in Paris in 2019, and the selection of artists reflects this anchorage in the French territory as well as its Scandinavian roots by presenting two Swedish artists, Lena Johansson and Matts Leiderstam, a Mexican artist, Martín Soto Climent seen a few years ago at the Palais de Tokyo, and a French artist of international stature, Xavier Veilhan.
Although their media differ, the common denominator of their practice is a conceptual approach to their medium. Lena Johansson examines lifestyle photography through her painting process. Matts Leiderstam's work looks at how ways of seeing change over time, searching for alternative, queer histories linked to the act of seeing or looking at paint. Martín Soto Climent's practice refers to the forms of the body and the psychology of desire, with a concern for an economy of consumption. Finally, Xavier Veilhan addresses questions of perception through a wide range of media. With a selection of recent works, our stand will showcase the work of artists at different stages of their careers.
