GODSPEED - GROUPSHOW: Paris
Andréhn-Schiptjenko is pleased to present Godspeed, a group exhibition bringing together five artists from the emerging French art scene, Romain Bagouet, Chloé Bensahel, Cécile Guettier, Alexis Puget and Victoire Thierrée, curated by Margaux Ducerisier. The exhibition opens on Saturday 28 November, with a vernissage in the presence of the artists from 5 to 8 pm, and will remain on view until 16 January 2027.
Godspeed explores the ways in which light shapes our understanding of the world and informs our search for meaning. Borrowed from an old expression of farewell, the title conveys a wish for someone embarking on an uncertain journey: may they be protected, and may they find the strength to carry on. Here, this wish becomes a metaphor for our relationship with light.
For light does more than make the world visible. It reveals as much as it directs, guides as much as it blinds. Beyond what it allows us to see, it shapes our perception of the world and, with it, what we choose to believe in. Both a physical phenomenon and a powerful cultural symbol, light is a vessel for belief and projection, a means through which societies give form to their myths, systems of power and collective imaginaries.
Bringing together five distinct artistic practices, Godspeed considers light in its many manifestations: natural, spiritual, mythological, digital and mechanical. Beyond its physical properties, light emerges as an active force, shaping the ways in which we experience and make sense of the world.
